Installation: 3 x 16mm projectors, rear projection screen, B&W with color filters, 2017

A model airplane was filmed three times in succession through red, green, and blue filters on black and white 16mm film. The individual rolls of film are looped and projected on top of each other through the corresponding filters. The propeller’s different movements in the three rolls reveal the process of the color mixture.

In a movie theater, the audience is forced to sit still in order to experience the moving images. In this installation, the viewer’s own movements through the space create an added component to the image. If a body cover the beam from the red, green, or blue projectors, new color mixtures are created.
